Hi Justin,
as far as i understand you enabled the compression in the policy right ?
If yes, the benefit of the drive internal compression is around 0 cause you
still write a compressed tar file on tape.
That means that the visible size of "bpmedialist -m <TAPE>" is already the
compressed size.

1. What data are you backing up?
a. Compressed data will not compress any further.
b. LTO-3 tape is 400GiB, not 800GiB.
c. LTO-4 tape is 800GiB.
2. Are your tape drives defined as 'hcart3'?
a. /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpconfig -d
b. Run the command above to find out.
