Hello

Context is MS SQL agent (in an HP Polyserve Matrix HA cluster) backing up to a LUN from a remote backup server.

We've had to removed Netbackup media server from the Polyserve cluster nodes as Polyserve panics whenever we get a tape drive failure.
So the .bak file are written to a CIFS share on a backup server, ie backed up over our network.

I need to find a way of signalling back from the post processing file of the netbackup client to talk back to the sql agent to continue truncating tables in an archive database once Netbackup has successfully backed up the database.

In the old days, when MS SQL server/Polyserve Matrix and Netbackup all sat on the same  server, i'd have been thinking of using the steps in the SQL Agent job to control this.

However, now that the Netbackup client is outside of the cluster it appears a more tricky proposition.

Hope this makes sense!
