And of course you ignored what I said about not always being able to get someone at Symantec to tell you what those “few patches” are or correctly identify that you need them.

Telling folks to “get over it” is just cheerleading to me.

I for one am a little over the posts suggesting that bad releases like 6.0 before a late MP and 6.5.2 aren't really "that bad".

6.0 before MP4 was a horrible piece of garbage for us and many others.  That make you feel better?  It was "that bad" - we put in tons and tons of effort to help Symantec stabilize that release because there were major, major bugs in it.  We estimated 4-5 months of extra effort caused by this upgrade and we opened up over 45 support calls, many of which were severity 1.

IMO, 6.5.2a with a few patches applied is not "that bad".  You're entitled to your own opinions.  I have the data to prove that it's working for us and our backup success rate is higher now than it has been for several years as our volume has significantly increased.  Last month, all on 6.5.2a, we ran 80.000 jobs backing up 2 billion files totaling 350TB.  I'm not going to say it's perfect and we have open tickets with Symantec that suggest it's not perfect.  However, generally it's doing the job which is not what I was saying about 6.0MP3.

There is no bug-free version of NetBackup out there today.  Get over it.  There are, however, versions that allow close to all customers to get the job done although a handful of Engineering binaries may be required.  6.5.2a fits that description for us.
