Re: [Veritas-bu] Emulex cards and RHEL5?

At a prior job I used Emulex on Solaris
without any major issues (other than being new to them).
Here we use Qlogic on the Linux servers
that have fibre. In doing an offsite test replicating one of my environments
(RHEL3) last year they provided me with Emulex cards but I wasn’t able to
get it going the way I needed so finally ended up coming back to my office and
getting a couple of spare Qlogics. At the moment I don’t recall exactly
what the issue was. It is always possible it was just unfamiliarity and a
tight deadline that made me give up the effort.

I too see people shying away from Emulex. I think we will be
moving forward with only Qlogic as well.
One of the things we like is that most Unix systems originally liked only
Qlogic although that is starting to change. Given that a person
wants to standardize, Qlogic makes more sense.
Another added bonus is that you don't have to worry about firmware updates on
Qlogic HBAs - just update the drivers and you're done. With Emulex HBAs,
you have to update both and try to keep them in synch. Not too big of a
deal, but it's 2 sets of data you have to keep track of.
