Hi,

We have a RMAN backup that allocates 7 channels backing stuff to to 7
different backup disks. Each backup disk is about the same size
850GB. The RMAN parameter 'maxpiecesize' is set to 16GB for each
channel. The 'high watermark' setting for each disk storage unit is
set to 97%. However every time when the backup happens, the capacity
of one of the backup disks always goes up to 100% even though the
'high watermark' is set to 97% and all the other disks have plenty of
space. I did notice though that at the time of that disk getting 100%
full all the other disks did have a RMAN backup job/channel running.
Does NetBackup check the disk capacity and the 'high watermark'
before it starts writing the next RMAN piece? I have been looking for
a document that describes how NetBackup handles this situation but
haven't been successful so far. Can anybody kindly share your
knowledge about this process if you do know?

The environment is NetBackup Enterprise Server 6.0 MP5. RMAN agent
runs on Solaris 8 box and the master server runs on Solaris 10.

TIA,

Rongsheng
