Is that retention correct?  Do you want to keep the data forever?

Yes, but it's not compatible with retaining the data on them forever.
You need to either destroy the data (bpexpdate -d 0 -m <volume), or copy
the data on there to another tape first (via bpduplicate), and then
erase the tape.

Once expired, the tape will be available for new backups.
