I wouldn't recommend using the Notes Agent.  As for backing up the Transaction 
logs for Notes.  No to that also.  The Trans Logs can be more of a pain when it 
come to restoring the data/mail file back to the server.  I know because I was 
a Notes Admin.  The Trans Log "is" supposed to help with the faster recovery of 
the mail file.  The best thing would be to let the Domino Server do the 
consistency check on the mail file rather than the trans log direct it to a 
P.i.T.
