Is there no way to backup "internally" to disk, rather
than purchase an agent and upgrade?
Not knowing Sharepoint that well, one would think there is an
ability to perform certain backups and
restores.
Maybe a search on google ?

Veritas NetBackup (tm) Enterprise Server / NetBackup
Server 5.x Database Agent Compatibility (Updated April 2, 2007)
I'd say manual backups or an upgrade to NBU 6 are in
your future.

We use NetBackup 5.1 MP6. We’d like to start backing up out
SharePoint servers via NetBackup…….can this be done with an agent, similar to
SQL and Exchange (I’ve got a call into Veritas)?
