For the life of me I cannot find the definitive place where RMAN trace files are
stored ? Can anyone please enlighten me ?

I am suspecting /path/to/oracle/admin/<db>/ ... but then what ?

There is like 9 sub dirs under there:

    drwxr-xr-x   2 ora920   dba           96 Aug 16  2005 log/
    drwxr-xr-x   2 ora920   dba           96 Aug 16  2005 pfile/
    drwxr-xr-x   3 ora920   dba         5120 Jun 20 07:00 udump/
