The way I understood it, is regardless of what job started first, if a newer
job was about to start (say its got a priority of 70), then any other jobs
are put back into a queued state to allow the new job to start (assuming
there are no tape drives available).

So, for example if you have 2 tape drives, both in use with a low priority
jobs; Then suddenly a job with 70 priority comes into play and wants to run,
NetBackup should queue the current jobs running to allow the higher priority
jobs to run.

Thats how I understood the process.

Correct me if I am wrong though :-)

True - however it is also time based. Time wins the priority battle.

A job with a priority of 5 scheduled at 10 PM would run before a job with a
priority of 25 scheduled at 11 PM (assuming there were no resources
available between 10-11 PM).

A quick question about Job Priority:

I assume that Job Priority is relative, so if I where to set all the jobs to
a priority of 25 they would be treated the same? The idea is to create a
baseline, which allows me to setup some lower priority policies by
specifying a lower job priority and conversely higher priority policies with
a higher job priority.

Thank you in advanced!
