Hi

We had lot of trouble with RMANS this is what we found
If the error message has ORA-19511: then blame NBU
if errro does have NOT ORA-19511: then blame the DBAs or who ever casue it
ain't a NBU problem.

Some people will tell you reverse lookup is essential for RMAN agents
....don't believe them.. but they are on the right track.
Recommend  fully qualified domian names and tacking care with aliasing in
ther hosts file ... NBU RMAN agent appears to be sesntive in this area.
THen again there could be many problems.
To start with running qa regular fileissytem backup at ther same time...if
still got a problem onlyin one backup then its host file configuration
