May all want to take a look at this, as it may prove to be helpful - had to
use it myself when I had a major disaster with my destroyed media servers!!

Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] renaming a media server
I think you could build a new media server (new name), before removing the
media server from the app server. Then use "bpmedia -movedb" to change
ownership of all backup images owned by the old media server, to the new
media server. Then decommission the app server media server.
I haven't tried this though and am waiting for someone to shoot me down in
flames...

Subject: [Veritas-bu] renaming a media server
My application support person, if all of their wisdom, wants to have their
app server rebuilt but remove media server from it. Originally it was made a
media server coexisting with the app because of the TBs of data it was to
house. They want to keep the same host name for their app so I would have to
change the host name for the "new" media server. Is there any way of keeping
all previous backups in renaming a media server WITHOUT importing the media
afterward?
Thanks in advance.
