This is only good until you put the tape in a robot. Then the volume
group changes and you take a chance of loosing track of that tape.  We
usually write protect the tape and on some we actually write with a
marker that this is a bad tape but again you cant see that through
netbackup.

You certainly can't change volume pools, but "volume group" is open for
season.
