The "why" would be the perceived reluctance of users to do the upgrade
or worse yet loss of new sales due to potential customers researching
the pros/cons of the various products (Legato, NBU etc...).

If you think large corporations don't try to hijack things like this and
user meetings so they can tailor the message I'd invite you to research
what happened to Interex/HP World.

I can't see why they would want to suppress forums.

It creates "peer support" and I'm sure eliminates some calls to their
support center.

It's funny that my quote implies I've experienced problems with 6.0,
when in fact I've never even attempted to install it.
