Hi James

First check the network, switch ports settings against NIC settings. If you 
are using team on the client try to disable it. In my experience lot of 
similar problem disappeared when we moved from load balance to fault tolerant 
team.

Check for firewall and antivirus software on the client.
If you have a lot of small files try to make the DWORD registry keys
CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT
CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
The decimal value is in seconds, default is 60 I think.

Snoop on the master and media server may also give some clues.
