[Veritas-bu] HCART tapes with LTO2 Drives

We did the same recently.
 
we had LTO2 drives and media, both defined as HCART2.
 
we added several LTO3 drives and defined them as HCART3, but netbackup
would not put a HCART2 tape in the HCART3 drive.
 
we had to configure the LTO3 drives as HCART2, to get them to work with
the LTO2 media, untill we load the library with a substantial stock of
LTO3 media configured as HCART3, at which time we will change the LTO3
drives to HCART3, but then the drives&media will be segregated.
 
Yeah, it seems Netbackup only uses the "type" as an identifier, but it
would be nice if they had some proper "hierarchical" backward compatible
types, like the HCART/HCART2/HCART3 types.

        Does anyone know if HCART tapes will be used by LTO2 drives
defined as HCART2 drives? We have just replace all our LTOI drives with
LTOII which can read and write LTOI tapes, but do they have to be moved
to HCART2, or will it work auto magically? Also, can a tape be moved
from HCART to HCART2 if it is assigned? I'm hoping someone has already
gone through process and can be of assistance. TIA.
