The NetBackup inventory compares what NetBackup thinks the robot has to
what the robot says it has. This should be relatively quick. I've used
the Sun OEMed L700 (StorEdge) in the past with DLT drives and didn't see
the kind of delay you're talking about. Here we use the HP OEM and
don't see it either.

I'm wondering if your confusing the robots "cell audit" with Netbackup's
inventory operation? If you power cycle the robot (or open and close
the front door) it will reinitialize and that can take a few minutes.
Until that is complete doing a NetBackup inventory operation might be
delayed.

We have a Sun StorEdge L700 library with a new install of NetBackup
5.1MP5 on Solaris 10. The library and drives (6 LTO2) are hooked up via
SCSI connections from a Sun E450, with the library being the only device
on the controller it is attached to. When performing an inventory
operation from NetBackup, it takes 3-5 minutes. Is this normal for what
seems like a logical operation, as no physical scan is actually being
done at this point?

We also have an L25+L100 setup and an inventory of that takes only 3 to
4 seconds.
