The default restore is going to place the files back in the same full
path as the original file. If you want to place the files in a new
location, you have to use a "rename" file. It's the "-R" option for
bprestore.

It'll handle partial path names so you don't have to rename every single
file.

The contents of the rename file look like:

  change /path/path1 to /path/path2

The "change" and "to" are necessary - must've been an old COBOL
programmer.

In my experience, I don't know of a way to skip the directory structure.
But you can use the command line for scripted restores - see the
Commands reference for bprestore. Here's an example of mine:

 @REM NBU Restore script for mailbox
@REM
@REM
bprestore -B -C mail.site.edu -D mail2.site.edu -S hobbes.longwood.edu
-t 19 -p NDMP -s 05/6/2006 -e 05/17/2006 /usr/store/spool/user/userx

Will restore the contents of the specified directory from Policy NDMP,
type 19 (NDMP), placing all files backed up between the dates given.
This is sourced from the backup for mail to mail2.

HTH,
Jason
