The dhost parameter just restores the files from the catalog backup to a
host other than the one you're running bprecover on. So you might have file=
s
other than the master catalog one the catalog backup tape, such as a media
server's voldb, or even some non-NetBackup files. I used to backup several
SQL-Backtrack catalogs with bpbackupdb, along with the master's catalog and
several media server's voldbs.

The -dhost let me recover all of these different hosts' by just mounting th=
e
tape once on the master (but running bprecover several times).

You can physically restore the master catalog to whatever server name you
like, but NetBackup (probably!) won't work...
