You need to also do a bpmedia -oldserver -newserver to move the mediaDB
entries if you are decommissioning the media server. The bpimage
command goes into the images catalog and changes each header file media
server entry from oldserver to newserver for every image that has
oldserver in it. You can specify the -id flag to just change a specific
image if you do not want to move control from one media server to
another.  =20

Subject: [Veritas-bu] override media server VERSUS bpimage -newserver

=20

I would like to change the media server that I recover from in a veritas
5.1 MP4 Windows 2003 environment. I have managed to successfully do this
by using the command bpimage -newserver nbumedia -oldserver nbumaster.
What exactly is the command doing when it is run? Is it accessing every
image in the database. At present it takes about 45 seconds to complete.
Can I expect this time to increase as my catalog size increases?

=20

Unfortunatley I have not been able to successfully use the bpimage
command to change the media server for just one backup ID (using the
-backupid syntax). The sysntax is accepted correctly but the bpimage
appears to have made the changes for all images rather than the backupid
that I specified.

=20

Finally, Is anybody successfully using the hosts properties option of
'override media server. When I use this option and restart the services
there is no change in the media server used to restore data.=20

Thanks for any help with these queries.
