Sun really seems to be dragging their feet when it comes to support for
any FC tape. We started with FC tape with SGI servers over 4 years
ago. No problem. Same thing for HP-UX. We also had a couple of Sun
420R boxes with Sun/qlogic HBAs which refused to recognize the STK
drives we had. The only way around that for us was to go to Qlogic's
website and get THEIR driver for the card. My servers are using JNI
HBAs. They're pretty old and require me to reboot the server whenever
there are any changes to the devices on the fibre. No problems
supporting FC tapes, however. I hear the newer JNI (isn't it AMCC
now?) HBAs no longer require reboots.
