For Unix/Linux clients your exclude list file name should contain the
name of the policy. =20

=20

i.e. If the policy is named "HOSTNAME-OS" rather than just creating:

exclude_list=20

You should create:

exclude_list.HOSTNAME-OS

Subject: RE: [Veritas-bu] exclude list on Linux client

=20

Hi

Not knowing much about Linux clients, my guess would be, to exclude
certain roots or folders, you would goto the properties of the client
and add then in the exclude list.

=20

I would think this is done on the master, under host properties /
clients and/or the client itself.

=20

This is what I would do if excluding certain do. I assume you have
stopped / restarted all relevant netbackup services for changes to take
affect?

=20

Now I did read somewhere that on 5.1, NBU has a problem with EXCLUDING
folders on certain clients, and I think (??) this may have been fixed in
MP4. Not sure if this will help the problem, but wanted to share in case
anyone could clarify this.

=20

Finally, may be worth a look at this
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/277121.htm

=20

Hope its of some help - trying to assist where I can really! My other
feeling was, maybe there is a Command line that can be used to verify if
the exclude list is either there or in effect

Thanks

                Hi all,

                I'm on NB 5.1 - I have 2 Linux clients(util1 and util2 )
under a policy and with the following filelist

                /export

                /root

                /home

                /etc

                /var

                /u/d01

                /usr

                /lib

All I need is to exclude /u/d01 , /usr and /lib from one
of the clients (util2) - I created a exclude list on util2 as follows -

                [root@util2 netbackup]# cat exclude_list
                /usr
                /lib
                /u/d01
But NB still is backing up the above 3 dir's on util2 -
Any idea y?

                Thanks in advance..
