The problem will be in the setup of your library, not in NetBackup. You
are reporting the rightmost 6 characters of the barcode. Normally the
library will read the 'L1' 'L2' etc and identify the tape type - NetBackup
does not see those letters. Hunt in the library manuals for how to set
the way the library handles barcodes. I don't know about EVL libraries -
what are they underneath the HP badge?
Or I could walk round...!

Might be something wrong there.
I don't know about that HP library (rebadged Quantum or ATL?). With STK
libraries, if you put a cleaning tape in the correct slot, the library
will automatically clean the drives when required, and NetBackup doesn't
need to know about it - it doesn't even know about the cleaning tape.

Morning
I am having some problems getting Netbackup to use a Cleaning Tape on a
NBU 5.1 MP1 Win2k3 Master Server.
I have a Cleaning Tape called CLN0001L as a Barcode. I have inserted into
my HP EVL Tape Library into SLOT 1.
Netbackup sees the tape as Media ID N000L1
Now, reading the SysAdmin guide, it talks about creating a rule for
barcodes, therefore I created a rule as follows:
Barcode Tag CLN0001
Max Mounts 40
Media Type 1/2 Cleaning Tape
Volume Pool NONE (and I have confirmed the tape is in this pool)
Description - Cleaning Tape
So, rule created, I tried to use the GUI to run a clean but netbackup does
not see the tape or actually recognise it!
Im wondering if anyone can advise where I have gone wrong? I can do a
clean from the Robot, but its a very long process
Thank you
