My experience is that you do not want Windows. I haven't seen Windows
media servers able to push near the I/O my Suns push even without the
comparable bus speeds. Now... my biggest bottleneck that I see is the
1GB network interface. I'm more than capable of reading about
70-80MB/s in and writing it out to 2 drives (inline copy). I wouldn't
want to go much more than that on a single GB interface. NetBackup
doesn't support bonded interfaces (officially -- it works, but isn't
supported).

I'll also echo what was said about stability of tape drives on windows
-- too many reboots to configure things and make them work, too many
reboots to troubleshoot, etc. Not to mention configuring buffers to
actually drive tape drives ... better off with a unix box.
