Expiring the images deletes the image data from the catalog. There's no
"undelete" feature so you can't reset the time's via bpexpdate.
I'm afraid you're stuck with reimporting the tapes.
Importing two tapes shouldn't take too much time, as compared to restoring
two tapes. You'll have to scan each tape twice. The first scan,
header-to-header, is a lot faster than the second but it's just hands-off
time. If the images span the tapes, I think you have to do the phase one
import on both tapes before you do the phase two.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] retrieving expired media after bpexpdate ?
4.5 (FP6) Windows 2003 Master/media server -
Staff accidentally scratched 2 long term hold tape using bpexpdate last
night -
Other than importing these tapes is it possible to recover these 2 media ?
Unfortunately the recalculate requires the Job ID that does not
Show up anymore? Or is there an alternate way I can find it?
V:\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>bpexpdate -backupid
condor-p_??????? -client condor-p -policy Condor-Snap-Resubmit
-recalculate -ret 8
A bprecover of the database could quickly do this but I would loose all last
nights backups
But the tapes are critical Lawson payroll and after review with management
it might
Be the option since the Import process is so lengthy?
Thanks
Eric
