We keep an onsite copy for 2 weeks(in the L180 library) and use
bpduplicate almost everything to tape for offsite, 5 weeks, then onsite
FM200 room for a long retention, 6 months, 3 years, or 7 years depending
on the business requirements.

Just Netbackup with long retention times. Nothing special. Archival
for us us just 8-year retention images at an offsite location. We keep
a primary copy onsite, too.

Just disposed of a 9-track drive a few months ago. One of our remote
offices still has a drive I think.
I'm sure the oil companies are still reading 800bpi tapes. These
contain data that the petrophysicists use and are frequently old. The
drives were typically in the back of a truck out in the field - hence
the 800bpi requirement.
It's been a few years since I've seen a paper tape reader though :-)
