Anthony,

If you look for a utility called pskill.exe, you can use it to kill the process 
that's hung without rebooting the box (usually).

As for the acutal reason behind the hang, you'd have to dig into the logs to  
see if there's any more info. I'm on 4.5 FP5 and infrequently have this issue, 
but usually killing the process and starting the job again takes care of it.
