[Veritas-bu] Media Servers fails to sync with Master Server

This is new installation:

Master Server : Veritas Netbackup Enterprise Version 5.1 on Windows 2003


  SP1. With 3 Media Servers  Veritas Netbackup Enterprise 5.1 on Windows


  2000. HP San Tape library on SSO.=20

 =20

Master Server was unstable and reinstalled without catalog restored.=20

 After installing master server tried device configuration through
Netbackup=20

  Administration Console, we are receiving following intermittent errors


  while scanning devices on master & media servers.

 =20

  1) Device configuration command </usr/openv/volmgr/bin/tpautoconf
-sync>=20

  failed on host muscat with the following error:

 =20

  Cannot synchronize global device database(5).

 =20

  2) could not get device configuration, cannot discover devices. See
the=20

  troubleshooting Guide for details (44).

 =20

  3) Error connecting to oprd on <host>; cannot connect to vmd(70).

 =20

  Note:=20

  1)Master Server reinstalled with its same hostname & ip address.=20

  2)vmglob -get_gdbhost on all media server report master server name
correctly.

  3) Media Servers are critcal systems, difficult to reinstall veritas.
