[Veritas-bu] Meaning of 1 Month retention level?

I knew about the bpretlevel [-l] command, but I hadn't spotted that column 2 
was the time in seconds! Doh!

Details:
A retention level of one month is by default 31 days. Please note that
this can be changed. Please see TechNote 267037
(http://support.veritas.com/docs/267037 ) for information on what file
is updated if the retention level has been changed.

To determine the value for the retention level, run the following
command:

# bpretlevel -l
0 604800 1 week
1 1209600 2 weeks
2 1814400 3 weeks
3 2678400 1 month
4 5356800 2 months
5 8035200 3 months
6 16070400 6 months
7 24105600 9 months
8 31536000 1 year
9 2147483647 infinite

The second column is in seconds, so for example, a retention level 3 = 1
month or 2678400 seconds = 31 days.

I thought I had read that a retention period of "1 month" was
interpreted by Netbackup as "31 days".


I only recently realised that you could set the RL to mean an exact
number of explicit days.
We used to have our standard RL of 3 set to "one month", and as an
experiment I changed it To "28 days".

We did some backups, and now wanted to recalculate those back to "1
month".

I changed the meaning of RL=3 back to one month, and recalculated
certain backups.

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks to be like it might be interpreting this
as one calendar month.

(I have yet to see how it will interpret the RL for new backups)


Any one with any extensive experience of this sort of thing?

(nb, we happen to be on a rather old level, 3.4GA)
