You've got quite a few choices:

1.  Back up to a disk storage unit
2.  Back up to a disk staging storage unit.  This treats the disk like a
big cache before the files get optionally written to tape.
3.  Back up to a virtual tape library.  Multiple vendors sell products
based on this technology whereby a disk looks to NetBackup like a tape
drive.
