[Veritas-bu] DLT tape useage

I am wondering what the consensous is on DLT tape usage.  How many years
in the tape library is acceptable?  How many mounts?

Reading the specs for DLT4 tapes, the vendor claims it is good for one
million passes - but what is the real world limit on mounts?

If I have a tape that is 3 years old, and has 500+ mounts on it, should
I look at retiring it?
