What exchange database agent is being used?
 What master server and OS is being used?
 What backup version client is being used?
 Is this exchange on a node that other backups are using this client,
 eithernet card?
 What port settings are this IP set to and NIC?
 Normally Brick level backups can reach at least 5000 on DLT 7000
 but with other backups using the same nic maybe 2000.
 Has the system been re-booted since the last client install / upgrade?
 Brick level exchange backups should never run below 1700KB/s on a DLT 7000.

 Check the drivers on the DLT drives, update them to the Veritas Drivers
 from the Install CD and reboot the server.

        I asked this same question once, too. Exchange Brick level
backups
use the MAPI interface to backup, and thus do not perform extremely well
(MAPI is really designed so clients can access e-mail, not as a backup
interface). The best method to optimize your brick level backups is to
break
them up into more streams. The more parrallelism, the better. But the
best
thing to do is dump brick level all together, and just do information
store
backups. Create a recovery storage group in Exchange to restore your IS
to if
you need to pull from backups, and increase the amount of time deleted
e-mails are kept before being cleaned from your information store. The
last
part will give your users more time to restore deleted items themselves.

My Exchange brick-level backup takes ages to complete. What sort of
performance do you get on brick-level and are there any quick-and-dirty
ways
to improve this?
