What about tapes that have previously been used for catalog backups? How do
you tell netbackup to recycle the tape regardless of what it was previously
used for. We're currently running Netbackup 4.5. I have a whole slew of
tapes that keep freezing - some of which do not show up as a catalog backup
tape. Perhaps the tapes are just bad?
Thanks,
Tina

[Veritas-bu] ? how to overwrite tapes
Somebody please remind me how to fix this - I am recycling some old tapes
which have unknown data on them and NBU tells me that it is FREEZING the
media because it contains ANSI-format data and cannot be used for backups.
I want to put these volumes in a scratch pool and allow NBU to assign and
use them as necessary. These tape volumes are in a tape library with a
barcode reader.
