oops, sorry, I have just remembered: bpmedialist may not work at all, if =
it's not in the media manager DB.
(had one like this recently)
=20
You may need to start with the bpimport "stage 1" in any case.
=20
bpmedialist may then work, although the bpimport stage1 may tell you all =
you need to know anyway.

bpmedialist -mcontents -ev media_id [-U|-l|-L] [-d density]=20
=20
(Will actually mount the tape and read it).
=20
Can then, e.g. do a bpimport "stage 1 import".
=20
Between the two of these, you should get a pretty good idea of what is =
on the tape.
=20
Could then do a bpimport "stage 2 import" to get it back into the NBU =
database.
=20
You probably need to look at the man pages for bpmedialist, and =
bpimport, and/or the admin manual
(which you should be able to download in PDF, if you don't have it).
=20
You may have to hunt for the man page(s).=20
(On my system, they appear to be in =
/opt/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/man)

I have a 5 year old NBU tape volume and I want to find out what is on it
and possibly recover some files from it. All information about what is =
on
the volume disappeared from the NBU databases long ago. How can I list =
the
contents of the volume? If I find what I want, how can I recover it? The
volume probably is multiplexed and the NBU server is a Solaris machine.
