I am seeing it on NB4.5FP6 also.

I think that we have narrowed it down to VSP.

Check the servers that you are getting the errors on and see if you actually
have the drive that is trying to be backed up. If your example is correct, you
don't have a "Y" drive. That looks like where your 71 is coming from.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Status 71

Greetings,

Since our upgrade of the master server to 5.1 we have been getting Status 71
error (none of the files in the file list exist). We believe this is related to
multiplexing and would like to know if anyone else has seen and worked this
particular problem.

More Detail....

Notice that for policy Corp_Nas01 we specify that the following drives are to
be backed up....

root [31] bppllist Corp_Nas01
INCLUDE F:\
INCLUDE G:\
INCLUDE H:\
INCLUDE I:\
INCLUDE J:\
INCLUDE K:\
INCLUDE Q:\

But also notice the output from bperror is looking for
"Y:\SQLBackup\Netbackup3":

 root [6] bperror -d 01/15/2005 -e 01/15/2005 22:00 -client vbk1nas03 -jobid
195814
1105804597 1 4 4 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bpsched started backup job for
client vbk1nas03, policy Corp_Nas01, schedule Weekly on storage unit
unix-hcart-robot-tld-0

1105804614 1 4 4 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bptm begin writing backup id
vbk1nas03_1105804597, copy 1, fragment 1, to media id NSN746 on drive index 9

1105804635 1 4 4 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bpbrm from client vbk1nas03:

1105804635 1 4 4 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bpbrm from client vbk1nas03:
TRV - object not found for file system backup: Y:\SQLBackup\NetBackup3

1105804887 1 4 16 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bptm read of TIR file failed:
the file list is incomplete
1105804887 1 68 4 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bpsched CLIENT vbk1nas03
POLICY Corp_Nas01 SCHED Weekly EXIT STATUS 71 (none of the files in the file
list exist)

1105804887 1 4 16 unix 195814 195812 0 vbk1nas03 bpsched backup of client
vbk1nas03 exited with status 71 (none of the files in the file list exist)

This is very random and it's not tied to one specific server, virtual server or
policy. This week alone we have had 71 errors 10 times on three different
servers, different policies which are different from the servers it happen on
last week. From our analsys it seems that NetBackup is grabbing the "Backup
Selection List" from a policy that is in the multiplexing queue. Anyone else
seen this problem?

TIA,

Rick.
