It doesn't. It can speed up restores when you need to restore a small
amount of data (a few files) from a large backup image.

SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS effects your tape blocksize.

I would give you a link, but I haven't figured out how to use the
stupid new search function on the Veritas support site yet.
