It's because /etc/mnttab on a solaris system is a special device file that's
read-only. It's not a file you need to backup. Just put /etc/mnttab in
your exclude_list for this client.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] date stamp on files affecting backups

Hello,

I am running into problems backing up a unix system to a
Windows2000 netbackup server. I am getting an error "cannot reset time
stamp on /etc/mnttab". I checked the date on the unix system and it is
running GMT time instead of EST like the Windows server. However, I can't
change the timezone on the unix client because of processes that rely on a
GMT timestamp. Is there any work around? And will the backups for an
entire filesystem fail when one or more files with "future" timestamps on
them are encountered?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

            Donna
