Thanks.   My point was to remind people that the exclude is a name not a 
file type.
Make no assumptions about what people know if you haven't told them (or 
published you policy).  If you say you do not back up core files that is 
different from saying you do not back up files named core:-)
Many of your customers will not all make the connection.  Many might not 
even know what a core file is.
