Hi,

We're running NetBackup DataCenter 4.5, MP7 I believe. Solaris 8, 4 Quantum
DLT7000, 4 IBM LTO, and 4 HP LTO2, StorageTek L700 robot.

Over the last couple of nights, several backups failed with error 52 on the
DLT side. Both nights, the failure was over the same tape. Different drives
both nights, but both drives have the same firmware revision (109, the
latest).

In the bptm log:
00:05:21.236 [4808] <2> tpunmount: tpunmount'ing
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/media/tpreq/AA4414
00:05:22.207 [4808] <2> TpUnmountWrapper: SCSI RELEASE
00:05:42.207 [4808] <2> TpUnmountWrapper: retrying open, errno = I/O error
00:06:07.219 [4808] <2> TpUnmountWrapper: retrying open, errno = I/O error
00:06:12.242 [4808] <2> send_brm_msg: ERROR 82
00:06:12.242 [4808] <2> catch_signal: EXITING with status 82

The log says "82" but the messages we got in the emails said "52."

I'm trying to figure out what exactly happened. The tape drive never went
down, and performed several other backups later on. That tells me the tape
never got stuck in the drive.

I suspect that there's something physically wrong with the tape that's
causing it to take too long to unmount from the drive.
