Hi all,

Backing up the Veritas catalog on the master server while backups running???

We have a problem in the sense that we have to do catalog backups daily and we
are a 24/7/365 shop. Anybody else doing catalog backups while backups are
running or let me put it another way - anybody doing backups of catalogs while
open, knowing it WORKS? Any suggestions welcome?

Eliza,

Check out the Media ID Generation Rules topic of the Windows SAG. I know for
UNIX, there's a MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS vm.conf entry. I think the
same will apply on Windows.

Your NEW tapes will use the first 6 chars, but existing tapes will remain the
way they are.
