Eliza,
Check out the Media ID Generation Rules topic of the Windows SAG. I know
for UNIX, there's a MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS vm.conf entry. I think the
same will apply on Windows.
Your NEW tapes will use the first 6 chars, but existing tapes will remain
the way they are.
