Hi

I am experiencing similar problems with my systems as well, got two cases
open with veritas now on the problem.

Here is what we have as a setup

dev/qa environment has it's own master and several media servers, all are
sun 2.6 4.5fp6 - problem does not exist
production environment has it's own master and serveral media servers, all
are sun 2.6 4.5fp6 - problem exists

The recommendation that veritas made to us was to increase our message queue
size...etc in the /etc/system file and "reboot -r". Since the implementation
of the message setting we have not experienced the problem.

They gave me a doc id that went to no place that is supposed to have the
parameters needed, but they are in the performance tunning pdf guide, as far
as the windows master server goes I'm not sure if there are windows tuning
parameters but it could be worth a look

the command on the suns to get the messages queue info was ipcs -a, by
default it is set to 4k and they recommend at least 64k

straight from their support site:

There are two guides available for NetBackup performance tuning, one for
UNIX and one for NT.

VERITAS NetBackup (tm) Performance Tuning Guide for UNIX Platforms:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/240733

Tuning VERITAS NetBackup (tm) on NT systems for optimal performance:

I have a similar problem

Master: Win2k

NB: 5.0GA

When the window opens for all policies, all jobs get queued. Then 80 jobs
begin to run. We have 16 drives with multiplex set to 5.

The problem is when one of the first 80 jobs finishes, none of the queued
jobs start. So then we have 79 active jobs. The problem continues throughout
the night until we have somewhere around 25 jobs active when there
shoulc/could be 80.

Has anyone seen this?

Kris

Master Solaris 2.6 & 2.8 NBU 4.5 fp6

Media severs Solaris 2.8 NBU4.5 fp6

STK Powderhorn with ACSLS... both 9940 & 9840 drives....

I have seen the following:

1. Active Jobs complete writing but never complete and stay active. They
never get to the status zero...

2. Jobs that get fired off get queued up and stay queued. Even though
drives are available...

Has anyone else seen this?
