Just an FYI, as per Veritas a release is due out this fall.

The release this Fall is suppose to fix VSP under 5.1 (and likely updates
for 5.0 will come out then too).

VSP cache files fail to clear under 5.x. Veritas has provided no solution
besides a third party product to remove the file handle so you can delete
the VSP cache file without rebooting the server. Of course, this third
party tool is unsupported and has a habit of either fixing the issues or
crashing the server (which in that case you can remove the VSP file once the
server comes back up).

Thanks!

According the Veritas support is will be:

5.1 MP1, MP2 etc ...

with MP1 released near the end of September.

Thanks to everyone that has participated in this thread!

I also received some private replies from a few people. They were quite
happy with the v5.1 release.

Most everyone related their experience, and all are helpful. Thanks!

However, there's one area of concern that wasn't addressed (in the posts
I've seen): What is the maintenance model for v5.1? Obviously v5.0 will
have quarterly maintenance packs ... Veritas, in fact, just released
MP3.

How will the v5.1 release maintenance be handled? Will we have v5.1MPn
someday, or some other way to get fixes and fresh bugs to us? Or is
v5.1 a dead end release? It seems to me that v5.1 had a base code of
approximately v5.0MP1, so I expected maintenance for v5.1 to appear with
or close to v5.0MP2 and then now at v5.0MP3. But no maintenance to the
v5.1 release has surfaced.

If this is published information, could someone point me in the right
direction, please?

If not, and and Dilbert is reading this mailing list, please get your
boss to tell us the story. ;-)

cheers, wayne
