You have a challenge here...I believe from a theoretical perspective this
should work okay. However, if your solaris master was tuned with large buffers
(>64K) then your new Windows 2K Master/Media server will not be able to read
the data for restore. Unless you make some registry hacks (which I can't find
now) on your W2K box.
If that is not the case, then you should be able to migrate this with no
problems.
Found this in the archives:
1. Install / Configure New server
a. Configure tape drive(s) and library
b. Down all bp processes on both Old and New
2. Share the Veritas directory (if possible) from Old and mount it to New
3. Change directory to Old's netbackup/db directory
a. Copy imageDB to New
b. Move Old's imageDB to orig.imageDB
4. Modify bp.conf entries (must be done for each client too)
a. On Old? make New the master server
b. On New ? make Old a media server
5. Start vmd on Old*
a. Move all volumes to Standalone
b. Stop vmd
6. Use bpimage -movedb to move the mediaDB entries from OLD to NEW
a. You may have to write a quick script to do it for each mediaID
7. If in use, copy ruleDB from oldmast to newmast
a. If this is a merge, then append oldmast?s ruleDB to newmast?s ruleDB
8. Copy or merge any remaining databases (if merging, confirm their contents
and the viability of merging)
a. Class DB
b. Client DB
c. Vault DB
9. If vault is installed, copy the session info from oldmast to newmast.
Make appropriate changes to the vault profile.
I think this does it...but you know all of the disclaimers, this really isn't a
supported thing to be done by yourself. So contact VERITAS if you are unsure
about any of these and they can have their Prof Srvcs do it for you.
