Andrew,
The Maxtor website is curiously devoid of specific information about
the Maxattach line, but from a knowledgebase article, I gleaned the fact
that the device runs a version of Windows 2000. Check the product
documentation for mention of compliance to any NDMP standards. If this
is found, then you will want to back up the device as an NDMP device.

Good Luck

I trying to backup a Maxtor MaxAttach NAS4000 system. It appears to run
a '=
stripped' down version of FreeBSD. I was unable to push the client out
to i=
t, but I have managed to ftp from the client back to the Master Server
and =
get the client software. But some of the utilities used by the
install-scri=
pt don't appear to present on the Client.

Has anyone had success in loading a client and then Backing-up a Maxtor
Max=
Attach NAS4000 system?, I'm currently running NetBackup Data Centre 4.5.
