Drives showing as AVR control instead of ACS control in device monitor=20

Symptom:=20

Drives showing as AVR control instead of ACS control in device monitor=20
=09
Solution:=20

In an ACSLS robotic environment if the drives show as being in AVR =
control instead of ACS control and the following messages occur in the =
specified logs.

Media server system log :
Nov 15 11:18:06 hoehpt07 acsd[8807]: ACS(0) Response has not been =
returned by Mount command sequence 4434, ACS status =3D 72, =
STATUS_PENDING
Nov 15 11:28:06 hoehpt07 acsd[8807]: ACS(0) Response has not been =
returned by Mount command sequence 4434, ACS status =3D 72, =
STATUS_PENDING

Event log from the ACSLS :
2003-05-22 11:33:51 CSI[0]:=20

2003-05-22 11:33:51 ACSSA[0]:
1432 N sa_demux.c 1 273=20
Server System network interface timeout.

This indicates that netbackup is able to reach the ACSLS server with a =
status request, but the ACSLS server is unable to respond back.

This is because the I.P address sent to the ACSLS as part of the STATUS =
request may be one that the ACSLS can't reach. This is because by =
default the I.P address sent as part of the packet is that of the =
primary hostname of the media server i.e. the hostname given by uname =
-a, and the ACSLS may be only able to reach a secondary interface on the =
media server.

To override the default behavior you can use the ACS_SSI_HOSTNAME =3D =
<hostname> in the /usr/openv/volmgr/vm.conf file. Where the value for =
<hostname> is a hostname associated with a I.P address the ACSLS can =
reach on the media server.

Background:=20

Master =3D Solaris 2.6  NBU 4.5 FP4=20
Media  =3D Solaris 2.8  NBU 4.5 FP4=20

ACSLS =3D  Solaris 2.6   6.0.1=20

Total Media Servers  =3D  15=20

Attempting to fire up a new Media server accross a NAT'ed switch...=20

Original IP  =3D  AA.BB.CC.DD,  NAT'ed IP  =3D  EE.FF.GG.HH=20

Netbackup master seems to be OK with it. Since the drives are directly =
attached to the Media server....=20

The ACSLS server on the other hand recieves the packets ok but wants to =
send them back to the media on the wrong IP.=20

That is The ACSLS Server wanst to the return packets to the original IP. =
 That IP gets rejected on a switch!=20

The end result is that the drives stay in a AVR mode and the robot never =
get initialized....=20

The only Item I have changed on the ACSLS in the past when I configured =
the other Media servers was the hsosts file.=20
