Not really in the architectural sense. The logical entity used to
access tape resources from the policy perspective is a storage unit, and
NBU does not support having an STU refer to a specific drive or drives.

The only configurations that do anything like what you want are:
   - all drives on a media server are in a single STU
   - some drives are assigned a different drive type

In the former case, you still don't have the ability to control which of

drives on the media server will be used for a backup. In the latter
case,
you will have to assign some media as being of the same type as the
drives; and you still can't guarantee which drive is used for a backup.

Netbackup shies away from being this specific because of the negative
impact on robustness in the face of drive failures.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] assigning policies or pools to specific drives

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Hi all I have a question about drives and policies. Is it possible to
assign
certain policies or pools to run only on certain drives?

Thank You all,
Cecil Hypolite
