Hi Darby,

Thanks for your reply! I'm not that familiar with Veritas NetBackup and
Windows 2000, I've run the robtest command but I'm not sure how this command
will fix the problem? Can you explain what you did with the robtest command?

I've had the same .  The problem was tracked to improper mapping between the
tape numbers in the library and how windows maps them.  In short veritas can
mount the tapes into a drive but can not remove the tape.  When the process
responsible for dismounting the tape fails the drive is assumed to be the
problem and veritas downs the drive.  Use robtest to solve the problem.

        Here is the list we use in situations like this:
        
        Check the system log for SCSI unload errors, this will indicate a
connection
        problem.
        
        Check driver and driver level for robot and drives.
        
        Check firmware and firmware level for robot and drives
        
        Be aware of that on windows you need the Veritas Tape Device driver
