Hi there,

I am facing a problem that a significant performance degrade on backup with
NetBackup (4.5 GA) after installed Veritas Volume

Manager 3.2 on a Solaris box with DTL backup drive directly connected.

The problem doesn't occur only on a RAID 5 volume but on regular volume too.

I duplicated a same set of data which in total size 111,119,520 kbytes with
2885449 files in a RAID 5 volume and regular

volume respectively, here are the backup results:

-- RAID 5 vol.: elasped time 14:34:46, thoughput 191 KB/Sec

-- Regular vol.: elasped time 16:11:44, thoughput 212 KB/Sec

Before installing VM, the backup throughput is about 3 to 5.5 MB/Sec.

I read this TechNote http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/240607.htm
and have done the suggested configuration but no

improvement at all. It even spent longer backup time (17:32:57).

Any idea is welcome.

Regards,
Chadwick Leung
