I ran into this problem before.
1. Use the eject command to eject the tape out from the remote
robot. If you manually taking the tapes out from the remote robot, then
you need to do step two.
2. Inventory the remote robot to make sure the tape not control by
the remote TLD.
3. Insert the remote tapes to the new robot (local tape library).
4. Inventory the robot.
5. restore should work.
=20
Good Luck.

What Volume group is the media you wish to restore from in? If it is
not in the local robot then you should be able to simply right click on
it in the gui and select move, to move it to another robot. =20
=20
Secondly, by default when you try to restore it should try to perform
the restore from the media server that performed the backup. You can
force the restore to occur from another server by setting the
"FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER =3D [REMOTE SERVER] [LOCAL SERVER]". There =
is
another method form moving a backup image from one media server to
another, but that involves editing the catalog.

Hopefully someone has seen (or done this before)
=20
Environment:
=20
NBU 4.5 (FP3) for Solaris
(3) Sun E450 Servers (1-master, 2-media)
(2) STK L700 Robotic Libraries
(1) STK 9710 Robotic Library
=20
=20
We have an STK L700 library located at a remote site about 70 miles
away. Because of some retention period issues, we removed some of the
full tapes from this robot and replaced them with new scratch tapes and
transported the removed tapes back to the data center for long-term
storage. Naturally, someone wanted something restored from a tape that
was formerly in the remote robot and we thought, why not just put it in
the local 9710 rather than drive 70 miles. The process on how to do this
correctly is not very clear and when we started the restore it was still
looking for the tape to be in the remote robot.
=20
Anybody have a fool-proof, sure fire procedure that they want to share
on how to get a scenario like this to work? I hate to think that these
200 tapes that we've relocated will have to be expired and imported into
the alternate library before we can restore from them or at the very
least, we have to drive 70 miles and reload them back into the original
library.
=20
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
